Karen National Union & Congress Reps commit to boycotting sham elections

The KNU Brigade Two will not participate in the SAC’s sham elections, it has announced.

One hundred people – Karen National Union [KNU] leaders, representatives and special guests – attended the 7th Congress Conference of KNU Brigade 2 in Tuanggu District from November 16 to December 19, 2022.

The Congress rejected the SAC military administration. It labelled the SAC an “extremist military” that is “killing innocent citizens everywhere across the country.”

The Congress went on to:

“Urge people in our district to boycott the sham 2023 elections and not to participate.”

The conference also elected General Saw Dah Doh as a chairman and discussed other issues arising out of the current civil war, federalism, ethnic rights, and environmental concerns.

In addition, the Congress called for a boycott of all businesses related to the military.

Further confirming its intentions, the Congress stated:

“We will work with any alliance that has the same vision to end the military dictatorship and extreme nationalism.”
