On January 30, 2024, a new law was issued by Myanmar's State Administration Council, modifying the political party registration law.

The key modifications include:

• a reduction in the minimum requirement for party membership from 100,000 to 50,000 members for parties organizing across the entire Union
• the minimum proportion of townships that political parties must operate in has been decreased from half to one-third of all Union townships for parties organizing throughout the entire Union
• adjustments have also been made to the timeframe for mobilizing party members and the definition of "by-election"
