Myanmar Junta Extends State of Emergency for Fifth Time

Today at the National Defense and Security Council meeting in Naypyitaw, ahead of the three-year anniversary of the attempted coup,  Myanmar junta extended the state of emergency for another six months.

The announcement came a day after the SAC's announcement on the amendment of the political party registration law, which reduces the minimum party member requirements and townships parties operate in, for parties that will organize throughout the entire Union. The extension yet again shows the junta's inability to gain control over the country and its failed promise to hold a sham election.
